designer. My artistic style is centered on interdisciplinary integration, forming a transmedia language of “bio-aesthetics” and "technological poetics". I combine scientific knowledge, biological data, digital technologies, and immersive narration to create unconventional experiences for my audiences. In creation, I prefer to use audiovisual communication, code, bio-materials and multimodal narration to develop cross-sensory experiences and immersive installations. I delved into testing and prototyping the complexity and sensuality of information experience narratives, as well as life science knowledge and cross-sensory interactive experiences. I regarded design as a form of discussion, following a design protocol centered around a non-human and ecological approach through sensory narratives and fictional objects. Through interdisciplinary collaboration with various practitioners, including musicians, computer engineers, scientists, and critics engaged in museum studies, cellulose-based biomaterials, bio-inspired computation, computer visions, machine learning, human embryology, microbiome, and bioinformatics research, I have learned invaluable lessons. Working with musicians taught me the power of sound in evoking emotions and creating immersive experiences, which I integrated into my artworks to enhance their sensory impact. Collaborating with computer engineers equipped me with technical skills in programming and digital fabrication, enabling me to bring my creative concepts to life with greater precision and interactivity. The award-winning experiences, exhibitions and collaborations have not only enriched my creative practice but also shaped my global artistic identity as a bio-inspired artist and information experience designer, driving me to continuously push the boundaries of art and science integration. Through eco-technological art practices, I persistently explore the sensory subjectivity of technological objects and the expansive possibilities of poetic expression. My works are primarily grounded in posthuman ecology, aiming to reexamine the intricate relationship among humans, technology, and nature. I delve into object-oriented ontology, non-anthropocentrism and Jane Bennett’s "thing-power", vividly conveying the sensuality of a fictional object through innovative Immersive art experiences. This project intends to explore Jane Bennett’s “thing-power” and depict the sensuality of a fictional object via epistolary methodologies and visual design. As a vibrant being, the microfluidic device shows its possibilities of developing subjectivity, autonomy and agency in narration. The project presents a experimental letter from the human artist Shontelle to her microfluidic brain-on-a-chip in 2068. In the future, the applications of microfluidics devices and cell-based biosensors could have the potential to create a new episode of bio-art. The artist investigates new insights into spectromophology and biological morphology in micro. The aesthetics of electroacoustic narratives and bio-visualization emerge from a speculative acoustic territory from a Wunderkammer (Cabinet of Curiosities) of a fictional post-specimen museum. The collections of unknown and fantasy objects are AI-generated specimens based on real microscopic images observed by the artist. The artist explores the potential role of machine learning and computer-assisted composition in the process of curating, analyzing and generating the sonic, visual and textual variations associated with fictional specimens. The audiences get to perceive and build the knowledge of fictional specimens when processing and fusing multiple modalities simultaneously, particularly in this project, is the engagement of vision and audio. By exploring the multimodal storytelling and combinatory creativity of a series of specimens and sound effects, sensory information begins to flow, migrate and further create novel enigmatic mood and memory. Noise is constantly generated under the collision of synthesizer, code, image data. The establishment of spectral spatiality is contributed from granular synthesis and microsound in composition. Within an immersive audiovisual environment, the audiences observe the Cabinet of Curiosities included AI-generated microbes and sound objects. From the past, present and future threads of human activities, the moving image vividly depicts its profound capacity to heal both body and mind. By drawing inspiration from the poetic themes that explore the trillium's connection to diverse elements such as food, medicine, microscopic life, garden sanctuaries, museological evidence and cosmic seeds, this immersive video installation weaves rich sensual experiences and a bridge of Chinese and Canadian Indigenous cultures. At the beginning, this work creates a transcultural dialogue celebrating shared reverence for nature’s curative power. Both the Chinese legend of Shennong, the divine farmer who discovered herbal medicine, as well as the Ojibwe people’s oral traditions converge in their reverence for the trillium as a symbol of spiritual belief, uniting these geographically distant cultures across hemispheres. Later, it gradually unfolds the trillium's beauty and significance, from the microscopic details of its cells and pollen to the grandeur of its presence in the garden-like virtual landscapes. The futuristic exhibition of trillium blurs the lines between the digital and the real. In the end, the trillium seeds return back to nature, the universe, echoing the process of life in macro and micro. This work reimagines healing as a collective and interactive ritual. Visitors actively participate in co-creating "healing scrolls" through their experiences and meditations within the exhibition space. The immersive moving images not only advocate for ecological stewardship but also promote cross-cultural empathy.
